RSVP ( Retired & Senior Volunteer Program) is part of a Senior Corps, a network of National Service Programs that provides Older Americans the opportunity to apply their life experience to meeting community needs. It is administered and operated locally by Brooke County Committee on Aging and is funded in part by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the Federal Goverment Agency whose purpose is to help people over 55.
RSVP focuses on finding retired, semi- retired or fully employed individuals, age 55 or older, to volunteer in assignments that match their skills and most importantly their interests, RSVP volunteers serve in a diverse range of nonprofit organizations, public agencies, and faith - based groups, as well as volunteering right from their home, ( eg. making quilts for fundraisers, crocheting lap robes/slippers for nursing homes, or performing a variety of outreach activities).
RSVP enables Senior Citizens to put their skills and life experiences to work in their community, become part of a growing family and caring and talented individuals, and make a difference in their community.
